Mogalli Ganesh, a novelist, intellectual critic and author, was born in Santemogenahalli, Channapatnam taluk. Ganesha, who spent his childhood days in the village, is a storyteller who can weave his experience into unique and beautifully crafted stories. He is the Head of the Department of Folklore Studies, Kannada University, Hampi, who innovated the tradition of Kannada Katha.
‘Buguri’, ‘Mannu’, ‘Atte’, ‘Bhoomi’, ‘Kannemale’, ‘Mogalli Kategalu’, ‘Ondu Haleya Chaddi’, ‘Batta’, ‘Topu’, ‘Devara Daari’, ‘Shambha Bhashika Samshodhane’, ‘Takararu’, ‘Tottilu’, ‘Desi Kathana’, ‘Alli Yaru Illa’, ‘No One There’, ‘Hokkulu’, ‘Ambedkar emba Mahanadi’, ‘Dalitikaranagonda Gandhiji’ and ‘Jati Mimamse’ are his major works.
His stories have won prizes in the Prajavani Dipawali Katha spardhe for four times and he has also bagged Karnataka Sahitya Academy Book Prize.
