Renowned film director, actor, veteran author Nagatihalli Chandrasekhar originally hails from Nagatihalli in Mandya district. He completed his primary education in Nagatihalli and completed his higher education in Mysore. Chandrasekhar, who earned his master’s degree with several gold medals, started the ‘Abhivyakti Samskrutika Vedike’ in his village Nagatihalli. Besides, on the occasion of every Ugadi, he started ‘Nagathihalli Samskrutika Utsava’. Through this platform, he started the work of awakening the cultural consciousness of the rural people by opening a well-equipped library, theatre and computer centres in the village. Multitalented Chandrasekhar is also involved in various fields like education, writing, press columns, cinema and television. Though he started working as a Kannada professor, he made his own mark in the story world. He wrote the story ‘Avarta’ when he was studying in the eighth standard. So far, he has published 21 books including stories, novels and travelogues. ‘Hadugalu’, ‘Nanna Preetiya Huduga’, ‘Malenadina Hudugi, Bayalu Seemeya Huduga’, ‘Sannidhi’, ‘Prema Katha Samputa’, ‘Akala’, ‘Chhidra’ are Nagatihalli’s famous story collections. His novels are ‘Baa Nalle Madhuchandrake’, ‘Chukki Chandramara Nadinalli’, ‘Valase Hakkiya Hadu’. ‘Ayana’, ‘America! America!!’, ‘Dakshina Dhruvadim’, ‘Holedande’ etc. are his travelogues’. ‘Nanna preetiya hudugige’ is his autobiography which has been published in many volumes. ‘Shatamanadanchinall’ is a collection volume of his various articles.
