Rumi Harish is a transgender queer man. He started learning Hindustani music at a young age and studied under 7 gurus in thirty years and has conducted many music programs in the country and abroad. He also mastered music composition, drawing and writing. She has been working consistently with sexuality and gender minorities for their social justice for the past 24 years, and is currently working to foster the arts of the queer and trans community. He has worked for more than 900 communities in the crisis situations of sexuality and gender minorities. Besides sex workers, and civil servants he has worked with many marginalized communities.
Rumi composed three plays which were staged. He has written columns for Agni magazine, Kannada Prabha, Edina dot com, TV9 and now he is writing a column for Planet Kannada. His poetry has been published in two queer anthologies. Dadapir Jaiman has published a book titled Jhonpuri Khayal based on his life experiences, published by Aharnishi Prakashana. He is currently working as a Research Consultant at an Alternative Legal Forum.
