S R Ramakrishna has translated several books from Kannada to English—U R Ananthamurthy’s Surabhi, Devanura Mahadeva’s RSS-The Long and Short of It, Siddalingaiah’s A Word With You World, and Krupakar Senani’s Birds, Beasts and Bandits. Music composing is another passion, and he has created the scores for the such renowned directors as Girish Karnad, Girish Kasaravalli, Nagabharana Umashankar Swamy, and K M Chaitanya. He was the resident editor of Mid Day and has worked with a host of publications, handling both news and features. He writes humour, and has taught journalism and English literature at reputed institutions. He is now associate editor, Deccan Herald.
