Dr. Sheeja Vakkam was born in Attingal, in the Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala, to R. Sukumaran Nair and C.S. Girija. Her love for poetry blossomed early in life, and she went on to win the first prize twice in the Mathrubhumi Vishu Special Edition Literary Competition for her poems.
She has authored several notable works, including Kilimaram, Anthikkallum Pranaya Shaappum, Oorkku Pokalam Kanne, and Shikhandini, all published by DC Books.
In recognition of her literary contributions, Dr. Sheeja has received numerous prestigious awards, such as the Abu Dhabi Sakthi Award, Asan Young Poet Award, Vailoppilli Award, Edasseri Award, Mooloor Award, and the P. Kunhiraman Nair Award, among others.
Alongside her writing career, she continues her professional journey in the field of medicine. She currently serves as a Senior Medical Officer at the Government Ayurveda Dispensary in Neerad (Kondotty), in the Malappuram district.
