Smita Amrithraj, an agriculturist from Sampaje near Madikeri, holds a post-graduate degree in Kannada. She has authored seven books, covering essays, poetry, and introductions. Her notable works include poetry collections like ‘Kala Kayuvudilla’ and ‘Tutiyanchinalli Ulida Kavitegalu’, as well as essays such as ‘Angaladanchina Kanavarikegalu’. Some of her poems have been translated into English and Malayalam, and her writings are part of the syllabus at Mangalore University. Smita has received several awards for her literary contributions, including the Sushila Sitarama Shetty Award and the Sahitya Ratna Award.
